Shipping

Where we ship. The United States (including US territories and APO/FPO addresses) by USPS, and Canada. We don't ship to other countries yet.

Cost. US shipping is a flat $8 per order, and US orders of 3 or more candles ship free. Canadian shipping is $24 for the first candle and $9 for each additional one:

Canada. Canadian orders usually arrive in 1–2 weeks. Prices are in US dollars. Canada may charge import taxes or a handling fee on delivery; those are paid to the carrier and aren't included in our price.

Timing. Every candle is hand-poured in Montana in small batches. Orders usually leave us within 2–3 business days, and USPS typically delivers in another 2–5. You'll get a tracking number by email when your order ships.

Damaged in transit. Candles are wrapped carefully, but glass and the postal service don't always get along. If yours arrives broken, email a photo within 7 days and we'll send a replacement at no charge.

Wrong address. Please double-check your address at checkout. If a package comes back to us because the address was incomplete, we'll reach out to arrange re-shipping (at cost).

Returns & refunds

Our promise. We want you to love your candle. If something isn't right with your order, email us and we'll work it out with you.

Unused candles. Returns and scent exchanges are accepted on unused, unburned candles within 30 days of delivery. Email us first so we can send return instructions; refunds go back to the original payment method once the candle arrives.

Our mistake. Wrong scent, missing item, or a defect? Tell us – we're here to help.

Burned candles. We can't take back a candle that's been lit. If the burn isn't going the way you expected, check the candle care tips below first (wick trimming and drafts cause most problems). If it still isn't right, write to us.

Return shipping. If the return is our error, we cover it. Otherwise return postage is on you and the original shipping charge isn't refundable. For scent exchanges, you cover the return postage and we'll ship the new candle to you free.

Candle care & safety

Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each burn. Our coconut-soy blend is a softer wax, so it doesn't need to melt all the way to the edge of the glass on the first couple of burns; aiming for 3–4 hours at a time is what we recommend. Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time, never leave a lit candle unattended, and keep it away from drafts, children, pets and anything flammable. Stop burning when about ½ inch of wax remains.

Privacy

What we collect. When you order, we receive your name, shipping address, email and phone so we can ship your candles and tell you when they're on the way. Payment details go directly to Square, our payment processor; we never see or store your card number.

Newsletter. If you sign up, we keep your email to send occasional notes about new scents and seasonal releases. Every email has an unsubscribe link, or just reply and ask.

What we don't do. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't use it for anything beyond running the shop and the newsletter.

Who else sees it. Square (payments, orders and receipts), USPS (delivery), and the tools we use to host the site. Each has its own privacy policy.

Cookies. The site uses your browser's local storage to remember your cart. No advertising trackers.

Your choices. Want to know what we have, or want it deleted? Email us and we'll take care of it.

By ordering from joycandleco.com you agree to these policies. Prices are in US dollars and can change without notice; the price at checkout is the price you pay. We may cancel and refund an order if something has gone wrong (a pricing error, an item that's out of stock), and we'll always tell you why.
