A little light can make a big difference.
Joy Candle Co. was born from love, loss, and a desire to spread positivity.
My name is Jessica, and I am the founder of Joy Candle Co. I’m a wife, a mother, and a candle maker living in Missoula, Montana.
But most importantly, I’m a daughter who wanted to find a way to keep her mom’s light alive.
My mother, Joy, was one of the most positive lights in my life. We lost her to brain cancer, and her loss changed me forever. I started creating candles as a sort of “therapy” during my time of grief. She had a way of bringing warmth, encouragement, and positivity wherever she went, and I knew deep down that these candles would become a way for me to carry her name and reflect the light she brought to so many.
Cancer has touched my family in ways I wish it hadn't, and those experiences have given this little business a purpose far beyond making candles.
And so, Joy Candle Co. was born.
Together we create.
Joy Candle Co. has become a family business. Every candle is hand-poured, labeled, and engraved by us right here in Missoula, Montana. Their scents are particularly formulated for scent sensitive individuals, but they will still fill a large home with beautiful fragrance.
My son helps me with the engraving, and my husband is my partner in the business and web side of things. What started as something inspired by my mom has become something our whole family gets to be a part of.
And I wouldn't have it any other way.
A candle with a greater purpose.
Joy Candle Co. is about more than making something that smells wonderful.
These candles are meant to be little beacons of positivity — something you can light for yourself, or give to someone who needs a little extra light.
You'll find an encouraging phrase engraved inside the lid of each candle. It's my hope that every time you open the lid, you'll discover a little message waiting for you — something that makes you smile, gives you encouragement, or reminds you that you are not alone.
Because sometimes we all need a little reminder.
A portion of the proceeds from every candle sold will be donated to organizations supporting families affected by cancer and advancing cancer research.
We will donate to organizations such as St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization whose mission to help children and families facing cancer is especially meaningful to us, and the Cancer Research Institute who is advancing new lifesaving immunotherapies. As Joy Candle Co. grows, I am so excited to donate to other organizations as well.
My hope is that every Joy Candle brings a little JOY to the person who lights it, while also helping bring hope to others who need it.
